In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Fresno; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in California are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 amβ9 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Fresno is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Fresno follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Came to Ichi Shabu for a special day and Robby was our server, honestly made the night! He kept checking on us, made sure our broth never ran low, and had everything we needed before we even asked. Natalie made some really good drinks too, and Juju kept our table clear all night. The atmosphere really elevated the whole experience, great lighting, tinted windows that keep the heat and sun out, and the music set the perfect mood. The updated menu looks classy too. You can tell they care about every detail, not just the food. Thanks for a great night, Robby! We'll be back, Ichi Shabu!

This place has a great atmosphere and the music was very calming. The staff is very friendly. Our waiter JuJu, took his time on explaining the menu and giving us his recommendations. Since our table was a group of 7. We ended up getting spicy miso with umi platter, hayashi set, and zen vegetables platter. The food was delicious and they also have a build your own sauce bar. The desserts are a must have (so delicious). I would definitely recommend this place for an occasion.

This is easily one of my favorite places in Fresno. Me and my partner came here after watching a movie at the Maya theater next door. The first thing you notice is the excellent service. During our visit we had many small interactions with the staff that made it extra special. To start, our hostess was very friendly, immediately greeted us and sat us quickly. Later on, the same hostess noticed my partner dropped a chop stick and immediately offered to replace it before she could ask. Our waitress, Camry, was also amazing. We told her it was our first time and she took the time to explain the menu to us and how to order. Not only that, she also shared her favorite sauce combo from the build your own sauce bar (another plus!) and made sure the check in with my partner on her food preferences. Of course the food was also very delicious, the stoves were easy to use and the ambiance is perfect for a nice lunch or a romantic date night. Some final notes; they offer 3 vegetarian/vegan broth options and it's easy for someone with food preferences to eat here. We also noticed they offer a free appetizer with movie tickets, and they also offer a similar deal if you post on social media.

This place was amazing 10/10!! Me and my boyfriend had decided to celebrate our anniversary, reserving was super easy. The staff are nice and friendly, especially with offering hair ties and a place to hang your purse on the side of the table. Our server Diose C. Was extremely kind and attentive to all our needs. He was able to clearly describe the menu for people that are new to the restaurant. Gave great recommendations while also allowing us to decide. Very easy to talk too, not only that he brought out a small cake to celebrate!! It made the day more memorable than anything. The price for two people with the amount of meats, veggies, and sides. It is worth every penny for a special occasion.

I absolutely love this place, the food is amazing and it's so calm and quiet. Perfect for socially anxious people, the waiters are also so polite!! I also absolutely recommend it for birthday dinners too!! They don't sing happy birthday which is perfect for my socially anxious self but they made the most cutest birthday dessert ever and the cake itself was absolutely amazing!! Soft and fluffy with extremely creamy cream in the center!! Absolutely worth eating slowly to savor it instead of inhaling it like Kirby.
